LonghornStudios.net began as BPMracing.net a few years ago. When that site was open, I painted an Earnhardt Career Set that was widely enjoyed. I have been asked by a lot of you guys who remember and enjoyed those cars to repaint these on the current DesmodRacing COT. I am going to revive that set, and post them below. Enjoy.
Long live the legend, known as, "The Intimidator," Dale Earnhardt, #3.
#2 Osterlund Racing Chevrolet (1979)
The car that Dale Earnhardt drove to his his first complete season in Nascar's top level. Winning Rookie of the Year honors, Dale showed the sport he was going to be a force to dealt with.
#2 Wrangler Chevrolet (1981)
After a Rookie of the Year honors in 1979, and a championship in 1980, Osterlund Racing landed Wrangler as a sponsor. Dale begins his reign as, "One Tough Customer."
#3 Wrangler Chevrolet (1981)
Half through the 1981 season, Osterlund sold the team to another owner. Ending operations for Dale Earnahrdt's ride, Dale teams up with Richard Childress. This partnership only lasted until the end of the season.
#3 Wrangler Chevrolet (1984)
In Dale's return to Richard Childress Racing, the Wrangler colors were sported twice on the track with two different teams. This car replicates the paint design that Dale drove at Daytona with his return to Daytona.
#3 Wrangler Chevrolet (1984)
As stated before, in 1984 Dale returned to Richard Childress Racing, to begin his drive for his place in history. Presented here are the primary 1984 colors on the #3 Wrangler Chevrolet.
#3 Goodwrench Chevrolet (1988)
My favorite Dale Earnhardt car, the 1988 Monte Carlo. Dale became known as, "One Tough Customer" through his Wrangler sponsorship. In 1988, "Then Man in Black" was born, and along with him, the legacy of, "The Intimidator."
#3 Goodwrench Chevrolet (1989)
1989 marked the end of the "big" race car. The transition began from the Monte Carlo to the Chevrolet Lumina. The dominate years of Dale Earnhardt's career were about to witnessed as the Lumina takes shape.
#3 Goodwrench Chevrolet (1990)
Dale Earnhardt returned to championship form in 1990 while taking home the Winston Cup title. This trophy would be title #4 of the 7 Dale collected.
#3 Goodwrench Chevrolet (1991)
For the second time in his career, Dale won a championship in back-to-back years. Has he did in 1990, the cup trophy went home to RCR in 1991. The 1991 trophy was #5 of Dale's 7.
#3 Goodwrench Chevrolet (1995)
The return of the Monte Carlo to the NASCAR Series occurred in 1995. Along with the Monte Carlo branding, Goodwrench expanded their sponsorship to GM Goodwrench Service. 1995 Dale won the Brickyard 400 in Indy.
#3 1995 Silver Chevrolet (1995)
The design that changed the die cast collecting world. The Winston special paint scheme.
#3 1996 Olympics Chevrolet (1996)
The design that put the American car company GM, Goodwrench, and the Americanson the US Olympic Team all on the same team. The Winston.
#3 AC DELCO Chevrolet (1996)
NASCAR in Japan? Dale ran a special partnership paint scheme in Japan for an non-points race featuring AC DELCO. The design would later be seen on the DEI Busch rides of Steve Park and Dale Jr.
#3 Wheaties Chevrolet (1997)
For another first for Dale Earnhardt, Dale was the first motorsports athlete to cover the sports cereal box. 1997 The Winston.
#3 AC DELCO Chevrolet (1997)
In a return to Japan, this time on the road course of Suzuka, Dale ran a small variation of the AC DELCO design. This was also an important race for that the Cup Series qualified for the first time on rain tires.
#3 GM Goodwrench-Plus Chevrolet (1998)
Dale finally broke through the winless Daytona 500 barrier to claim the 1998 Daytona 500. The Plus hood was a change to the GM familar hood to the #3.
#3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet (1998)
The 1998 installment of The Winston brought Dale Earnhardt to team up with the outdoors store Bass Pro Shops. With the design painted like a fishing lure this car sparkled perfectly under the stars at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Winston.
#3 Coca~Cola Chevrolet (1998)
The #3 traded the GM Goodwrench black for the Coca~Cola red when traveling across the ponds to Japan. 1998 was one of the trial years NASCAR raced at Twin Ring Motegi.
#3 GM Goodwrench-Sign Chevrolet (1999)
Perhaps one of the most exciting Bristol wins saw this design spin, oops, "rattle" Terry LaBonte's cage to get the win. Again, like the Plus, the Sign was a promotion from GM Goodwrench to look for the GM Service Centers.
#3 Wrangler Chevrolet (1999)
The beginnings were revisited in 1999 when Wrangler teamed up with GM Goodwrench Service Plus to allow Dale to run a retro design of the Wrangler colors of the 1986 and 1987 Championship years. The Winston.
#3 Taz Monte Carlo Chevrolet (2000)
Rated by the drivers as one of the worst Daytona 500s, the 2000 Daytona 500 saw the man in black...in red. Chevrolet ran the promo for Taz to show his colors and support as spokesman for Team Monte Carlo. Daytona.
#3 Peter Max Chevrolet (2000)
Dale Earnhardt in 2000 pulled into Charlotte Motor Speedway for The Winston, in another special design that was far from the black and silver of The Intimidator. Teaming with the legendary artist Peter Max, the #3 Chevrolet looked like another Peter Max masterpiece on the track. The Winston.
#3 Oreo Chevrolet (2001)
The week before the untimely death of Dale Earnhardt, he piloted this Oreo Chevrolet in the Budweiser Shootout in Daytona. Bringing the car home to a strong Daytona finish, it was a show of force that The Intimidator still had fight in him as he entered his 50s. Daytona.
#3 Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet (2001)
The last time we were to watch Dale Earnhardt thrill his fans was February 18, 2001. Daytona had taken Dale on the last lap. Dale died doing what he loved, and he went before his time. Dale Earnhardt will always be one of the finest drivers in NASCAR history. I miss you Ironhead.
